I know some people don't have an Avatar but it could be a fun question for those who do.

A camera is quite a good starting point for doing this! though sensible discretion says not to show your face.

I'm still rather confused by the Avatar concept - though maybe these are a good solution to maintaining anonymity and privacy (in which case why have any picture at all?).

PS: Have seen the film AVATAR and still didn't get the idea - but WTF

An 'avatar' is just a virtual representation of yourself. So, the images under our posts in a forum, our character in sth. like Warcraft, etc.

The film was called 'Avatar' as it referred to the man's virtual character when he would go 'infiltrate' the natives...

Never got into computer games when I was younger.

How teenage guys manage to play these while still managing to devote a healthy amount of time to essential activities like Masturbating beats me.

No wonder so many guys turn STR8 :)

It makes it easier to tell who writes what. Many people are bad at keeping names in their head. That's enough of a reason. And I use Linux (Ubuntu) not Windows and did not figure out yet how to use my camera with Linux. Altogether, Linux is pretty cool, but it can be a pain for some things, hardware compatibility etc.

Whatever, now I have an Avatar. Don't ask me where it's from as it's a manga figure and I know nothing about mangas. Looks better than before.

Well for one, its alot classier than just throwing up a dick shot. People look at that and think, "Oh great, just another dick"
When you pick an avatar, its who you identify with, its a portion of You. It reflects who you are inside and how you feel. So I guess if someone has to put a cock shot as their avatar, then more power to 'em.
Just my personal opinion.
