I loved her on Designing Women, Julia Sugarbaker was the quintessential southern businesswoman. She has had a long and wonderful career and she will be missed. The clip they feature Setdown (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qz_ZpoYBzaw)

I read about that.
She always had an elegance about her that is typical of the studio players of the golden years of Hollywood.
She was the perfect southern belle in Designing women. The entertainment industry has been diminished with her passing.

It is indeed sad that a true " Belle" has been taken from us. Dixie Carter, no matter the role, epitomized grace, intellect, keen wit and a wonderful sense of self. I recall watching with amazement and admiration when she used all that was the best of her to express her thoughts and opinions in such a way as to leave the other person brought to their knees in no uncertain terms and the person never knew what hit them. Now some could argue that it was the role that Dixie was playing…but I believe it was the style of the woman playing that role which added to the character. I have in fact, tried to use that premise as a creed when in a verbal or written battle. One never has to stoop to a level below the belt to express themselves. Funny…when I think of this type of woman, our very own Csrakate comes to mind.
One particular moment comes to mind. When Suzanne Sugarbaker was returning to the pageant scene after losing her “looks and gaining weight” , Julia was privy to over hearing some thoughtless women comment on her sister..and frankly blew them out of the water defending HER sister with such aplomb that I stood up and applauded when I heard it the first time.
To coin a phrase...When Dixie died, it was truly the Night the Lights Went out in Georgia.

I always liked her too--her character was my fave from that show and she was my favorite one of the three actresses to come from that show too---I was glad that she and Hal Holbrook became a couple--they just seemed such a natural fit with one another and it was obviously a great match----I feel sorry for Hal---he is one of my all time favorite actors--especially since I once saw him do his one man show where he played Mark Twain and I loved his portrayal of Abe Lincoln.
It is too bad that the generation of actors that Holbrook and Dixie are part of are leaving this mortal coil.
RIP Miz Carter!!!
