This makes me sick. It actually makes me so sad. I'm a Christian, I go to church every Sunday (not that it matters, just quantifying). Jesus never cared about the silly stuff (i.e. sexually orientation, etc.). If you look at the New Testament of the Bible, the only thing that Jesus was really pissed off about was usury - charging a fee for the use of money. That's why he upturned the money-changers tables in the temple.

I'm obviously not a born again Christian. As I tell my daughter, we are just Christians, we were born the first time, no need to be born again. I subscribe to Jesus' teaching; love thy neighbor, don't judge, love God and your neighbor, even if you wanna punch them in the face. And the people who are really profiting from our F'd up society right now are the RICH, the brokers, the hedge-fund operators, the lenders, the banks, and the rest of them.

Why is it alwasy the "born-again Christians" that have the money and do everything in their power to keep it, even though it hurts the rest of society???? Bush is a Christian? In my world, he is the most frightening Christian I've ever heard of. If you don't care how many people you kill, or feel that regardless of your actions, you believe God is with you, you need to check yourself, IMHO. I don't hold to the conventional notions of heaven and hell---but one definition I have heard of hell that I have heard and read some people propose and kind of like---"God" does not send us there--we send ourselves to "hell" because "hell" is a place where God's love does not reach because we have turned away from that love---

It does seem that if anyone qualifies as turning away from love it is Fred Phelps and his crew---go to their website and read through their various posts----as I have said before about his site---it is all about HATE, HATE, HATE!!!!!!

If the views that Phelps and his people hold are real and not just some grandstanding measure---they are a scary lot.

As far as my humorous attempt at one possible explaination as to the reason that Phelps is so anti-gay---it does so often seem to be the case that those who rally against something really, privately, secretly hold those desires or even act on them---remember Jimmy Swagart? Well Diamond may be too young to remember ol' Jimmy---I used to watch his show---he was actually entertaining and as I watched him---it always hit me at how full of shit he was. Some of the things Jimmy would rally against were whorin', adultery and promiscuity, watching pornography---lo and behold---Old Jimmy got caught with his pants down and he basically was doin' all of those things. It was so good to see Jimmy on his show cryin' and askin' for forgiveness.

I was thrilled, my priest not so because he knew it would lead to the tearing apart of the Anglican Communion given the views of the more conservative African nations, along with some of our own more conservative folks. But my priest encouraged me to speak to the press, showing that within one church there were different viewpoints and that was good, we were united in our liturgy. I got hate mail, including notes to go check out godhatesfags.com. How dare I represent my weird views? It all stopped when I threatened to sue their asses for being a hostile work place. Well, that and freaking out his wife. She said to me in front of a bunch of sweet little old church ladies that her concern about homosexuality was that anal sex wasn't healthy.
