Hey guys I want to shave my pubic hair off my penis and balls for the first time. Does anyone have any tips? Thank you.

I have found that shaving the pubic area on me doesn't work. I always get ingrown hairs which develop into unsightly red sores. I trim closely with a personal trimmer, much like a barber's clippers but somewhat smaller. I am able to shave my balls with a regular Gillette razor and foam and do so about every four days or so when I shave my face. Even dry shaving my balls when they're nice and tight works. I have to be careful when shaving due to the protrusion of the "seam" which runs along the bottom side of the scrotum. If I'm not careful, I nick it with a razor. If you are very bushy before trimming with the personal razor, whack it back some with scissors first. My wife uses a type of electric razor on her and it works perfectly. She does however have very fine hair and doesn't have the ingrown hair problem I do.

trim with hairclippers 1st, use the smallest attachment. then shave while taking a shower so u can get those hairs nice & soft, better yet take a bath & sit for awhile. rinse the blade after every swipe. work slowly & carefully :) moisturize the area after shaving, or use witch hazel.

Don't do it, it looks really odd when men shave off and remove all of their pubic hair or even if they trim it, and it looks odd if they shave their balls too.

Very responsive to the original question, as usual.
It must be nice to be the ultimate authority on every subject. Can't even bother to prepend with a polite "I think" or "In my opinion", just blurt out your dogma, as if you're the only person whose words matter.
Shaving pubes & scrotum has worked very well for me, with minimal irritation, no nicks, cuts or razor burn. The first time is often the toughest. Maintenance will probably be much easier. I use a quality 5-blade razor, and am smooth as can be.

I find if you do it regularly (every couple of days) and do it in the shower while water runs over the area, it's easy to maintain. If you start from a hairy start, trim back carefully with a scissor or power trimmer (I used one on my beard, so it's handy), and get things close. Lots of Edge gel or Lady Shick Shaving cream (if you have a wife or daughter in the house). I maintain by shaving every 2 or 3 days, put some moisturizer on it too. Hand cream or after shave balm, not after shave !! Way to go Pole_smoker ruining another thread with useless nonsense.

If you do it, it's best to be consistent and maintain every few days.

This is a true story and it happened to me.
Some few years ago I started an email correspondence with a man I found on ‘Silverdaddies’ who was telling me he’d like to top me. I was definitely horny for that and for him, and so I didn’t really hesitate when he suggested that I should be smooth down there for our first encounter, in case things went that well (and I was horny for that on a first date – judge me for that if you want, I don’t really care). Anyways, I bought a hair removal cream for ‘sensitive skin’ and I read the bottle very carefully and did the most meticulous job of it that I could. I timed everything carefully and played it safe; showering to find everything went perfectly! I was totally smooth from my tailbone to my pubic bone and everything in between! It was surprisingly erotic, especially the feel of my smooth balls – I was even more turned on to meet my “hook-up”.
Then he pulled a no-show. ARGH! WTF? Curse him!
Anyways, I still had my smooth balls and that was fun and I won’t go into further details because they’re not germane here and now.
Fast-forward several months, and the idea to go smooth again was raised and so I tried again to use the same cream I used the first time, just as carefully as the first time (so I thought), only I ended-up SCORCHED! That’s right, I lost a lot of skin and was definitely out-of-commission for almost a week! (Healed-up perfectly afterward, thankfully.) This was a rather SEVERE LEARNING EXPERIENCE, but it did teach a lesson and I have relied on it many times to perfect results.
THE LESSON: If you’re going to use a hair removal cream such as ‘Veet’ or ‘Nair’ the most important thing you have to do is ensure your skin is perfectly dry before you apply the product. If there is the slightest amount of sweat, moisture or even ‘tackiness’ like when your balls first come out of your pants – you will *burn* your skin by applying a hair removal cream.
Know the product: Basically, these hair removal creams are lye powder (sodium hydroxide, NaOH, also known as ‘caustic soda’) which is mixed with a rich lotion. Because there is moisture in hair (otherwise your hair would be too brittle); and because the outermost layer of your skin is actually dry (which is why people use lotions in the first place), these hair removal creams work by dissolving the hairs quicker than it dissolves skin. But if your skin is wet in the least bit, to start – when you apply the cream on your skin, it will start to work on your skin faster than it will on the hair – and you’ll be SCORCHED like I was.
Learn the lesson: You don’t have to shave with a razor blade to be smooth ‘down there’. You can safely use a hair removal cream, especially if it is for sensitive skin, IF YOU ENSURE YOUR SKIN IS PERFECTLY DRY before applying the cream.
Another key lesson: The bottle says do not keep on your skin for longer than 10 minutes – which you MUST OBEY otherwise you’ll get scorched no matter what. However, there is no rule to say you’ve got to remove all your unwanted hair in one single application. Do yourself a big favour, and use the cream for 7 minutes one day, then wait a couple of days and use it again for 7 minutes, then wait another couple of days and do it again if you must. After that, you can just re-use as necessary, and can go smooth for weeks and weeks without ever pressing a blade against your balls.
No ingrown hairs ever! No nicks! Less time-spend!
Just make sure your skin is perfectly dry first (which may not be adequately explained on the product’s instructions); and obey the time limits.
Oh yeah: Make sure you’ve got water pressure in your shower before you start, otherwise you’ll be washing your flaming balls in your toilet!
Once that shower water starts to flow – move quickly to remove all of the cream from contact with your skin, otherwise you’re back in the situation of having too much of the lye in the cream, dissolve into a solution that starts to burn skin. If you find that your scrotum ‘clenches’ it could be that there remains cream in the ‘crevices’ of your skin on your scrotum. You MUST physically brush the cream off your skin, perhaps with a shower ‘scrunchie’ or a soft sponge or a soft cloth. Rinse thoroughly.
Your first time, you should only go for 5-6 minutes, which may not remove very much hair at all. However, if you go again a day or two later (to give your skin some recovery time) you will find that another application for perhaps a wee bit longer – and you’ll be SMOOTH!
Last word: What surprised me was how my balls feel when smooth. It’s not just that they’re smooth to-the-touch, which is definitely a luxurious kind of feel. The best thing is that now my balls have greater ‘contact’ by virtue of there being no ‘hairy barrier’ between my balls and my lover’s touch. Don’t get me wrong: I like hairy men – men with hair on them. But for ‘mouth feel’ I’ve gotta say that smooth has it’s advantages during playtime! (Of course, I have yet to turn-down anyone – man or woman – because of any amount of hair.)
Hope this helps -- but be careful and don't blame me if you discover some new hazards I haven't encountered. Proceed at your own risk!

Great tips!!! I tried using Nair before, and thought I would never try that again. On my legs, it didn't seem to work. In the bikini area... oh boy did it burn!!!!! I may try it again with your tips in mind, although I'm still hesitant.

@BiBedBud,
Yes, thanks for taking the time to share your story.
I've tried Nair, Nair for Men, and Veet. I've also bought Magic Shaving Powder, but haven't used it because of the inconvenience of having to mix it into a paste.
My results with these products has been mixed. I have wound up with some burns, although nothing really severe -- mostly some reddening and a little discomfort. I assumed that it was a result of sensitive skin or bad timing, although I'm pretty diligent about watching the clock. Maybe this was caused by the skin not being dry, as you've stated. Once, I was meeting someone for play and wanted to be as smooth as possible, so used Nair in the shower. Wouldn't you know it? -- it was the time I got burned. It left me a little sore, but very unattractively red & blotchy. Sigh...
Another frustration with depilatory creams, at least in my experience: they seem to work better on longer hair, and don't seem to touch stubble. Ideally, I'd dip my whole body every couple of days in a 55 gallon drum of Veet, and be permanently smooth for the rest of my life. The reality is, if I use the creams on a 2-day's hair growth, it seems like it doesn't do a thing when my hair is that short.
Sigh, again...

I almost forgot another important point: If you're going after having a 'smooth hole' to match your 'smooth balls' you'll want to not get that stuff right 'up there'. That would be H-E double hockey-sticks (i.e. HELL)! So, to avoid this, what I've got is a designated chapstick that I actually apply to my 'rosebud' (LOL!). Yes, I know it's a ridiculous thing to do, and the thought of a TV commercial one day depicting this usage of an otherwise fine product, just makes me GIGGLE LIKE A KID!!!
Anyways, there's another tip for the wise. ;)
ALSO SOME TRIVIA: Somewhere in Southern India is a traditional 'treatment' they give to all the young girls, just before they hit puberty. It's a root, and the thing is killer toxic, BUT if you smear it on *UNBROKEN SKIN* when a girl is just that age -- all of the hair folicles on her legs will die permanently and never grow back. PERMANENT SMOOTHNESS! Of course, the downside is that if she cuts her leg while the treatment is on there (they crush the fresh roots into a wet paste, and smear it on the skin, and leave it there for a few hours) -- if any of that stuff gets into her bloodstream, it could kill her. (Yes, DEATH!)
For that reason alone, such a "product" will never be sold retail in any advanced economy. The other downside is that it is ONE TREATMENT, so the financial impetus for any company is going to be limited by that. They would much rather sell temporary solutions. It's the same thing with disease: There is a financial dis-incentive to find a cure; because chronic treatment is oh so much more profitable.
TAKE AWAY: If you're after a permanent, super-smoothness, and you're willing to risk your life that one time -- there is hope for you -- just to to India and ask around! (On second thought, it might be a better idea to launch your research from home, via the internet. This isn't the kind of thing to ask a crowd of strangers who don't know for sure.)

I trim my bush with scissors when it gets real bushy. I never want to shave it all off but do want to keep it short and neat. I've had all kinds of trouble shaving my scrotum, so I stopped doing it. I always nick myself no matter how careful I try to be. I do trim the longer hairs on my sac with scissors, but that's as far as I go. Also my scrotum itched like hell after I did it to the point where I had to use anti-itch cream to relieve it. I also would like my perineal and anal areas to be smooth, but no way would I try it since I can't even manage to do a half decent job on my scrotum. I have read about 'manscapers' who offer such services, but I don't think there are any near me and if there are, they don't advertise LOL. There's not a single listing in the phone book for a dick barber LOL. I don't do a great job trimming my toenails either. They never come out evenly cut and neat and I often cut myself there too, but there's an app for that. It's called the pedicure app which I avail myself of a nearby nail salon. I wish there were a similar place I could get neat professional hair removal (without waxing). I've broached the subject with a few partners about their trimming and shaving my privates for me, but so far no takers. Not that they think it's weird, but that they will cut me or do a sloppy job at it. Has anyone had any experience getting manscaped "down" there? If so, how did you find the service? I know there's gotta be places that do it.

I get waxed at a salon once a month. Brazilian. Lots of salons that do female brazilians are now doing male brazilian. Yes it stings a little for a couple of seconds when they pull the wax off in the groin area. Ball sack and crack not so much. Actually the warm wax in your crack feels nice! Gets easier when you do it on a regular basis. Good Luck. Love my smooth look as do guys and girls I've been with!!

These are all great advice and experiences. One I would add from my own experience is I always shave my scrotum with a multi blade razor, the more blades the better. I've found that electric razors on my balls always nick me and they nick me hard. It's because the skin is so loose and wrinkly. Even when I stretch the scrotal skin tight I still get bitten. Multi blade razors are great and I rarely get nicked. Using regular shaving cream helps a lot too.
@bibedbug thanks for the excellent information about the creams. I have sensitive skin being very fair skin and have been afraid to use creams. However I may give it a go given your advice.

I've been shaving my cock, balls and ass for almost 13 years, ever since my BFF told me that her hubby shaved his for her. I first tried an electric razor that can be used in the shower, but that was painful! Felt like the hairs were getting ripped out instead. Next I went to my schick disposable and have been shaving every few days with that (and either shaving cream or lots of soap) with no issues I love the feel of hairless balls!

It occurrs to me only now, that I should have added above, the fact that I use a disposable rubber glove to actually apply the product, where it goes.
If I tried to use my bare hand, no doubt it would have taken the hair off my hand as well, and that would have looked odd to me, as I type this (looking at the back of my hands).
Additionally, you may want to have a strong overhead light, and a mirror flat on the floor, this way, you can stand with your legs appart, and the mirror in between, on the floor. The strong light from overhead will bounce off the mirror on the floor, and you can easilly work the pumped product (both Nair and Veet come in a pump) with the gloved hand, and spread your cheeks and push your balls around as needed, to make sure you're getting it everywhere.

I am always shaved or close trimmed. The first suggestion I have is to do it. Shave it all. Guess what. It's just hair. It grows back.
And for those who say that guys with shaved pubes look odd. Well, how about no. I think it looks great.
The second thing I would say is to take your time. Don't be in a hurry. be gently on yourself since this is the first time that skin is feeling a razor.
The third thing is to commit for at least a month. After the first shave, wait 2-3 days before you do it again.
I'm available on yahoo or skype for questions if you want.

I have used the same process for a while. Shave, I like to use a trimmer first for any stray long hairs, then use a good shave cream Burts Bees is very good it's lubrication last for sveral strokes of the razor. Lastly lazer every shaved surface. For a long time I've been smooth from my waist to just above the line of my summer shorts and it's great. Wife has recently started doing the same, and she started doing my back, guess she didn't like the hairy back look while she was pegging me from behind, either way I like it.

I used to use a razor to shave down there and often suffering through nicking myself until I got this really bad ingrown hair that required surgical intervention to take care of; now I just grab the trimmer and trim it all down and if I can get my nuts shorn without nicking myself, fine; otherwise, they're just gonna be hairier than the rest of me. I do know a few guys who used Nair and regretted it and looking at a bottle one time showed the instructions said not to use it in the pubic areas or you could get a chemical burn. One guy used Magic Shaving Powder... and he showed me the aftermath of that and I'm not even gonna try to give you a visual of what I saw except to say it was seriously bad.
I know some guys are funny about male pubic hair and having any is a deal breaker for them and if so, too bad - I'm not shaving myself and if you don't like that I keep it nice and trimmed, tough titty.

I am totally smooth and have been for over twenty years. I started because my wife's bush was just that, a big bush. When I suggested she trim or shave it, she said , you do it first. I did and she chickened out. I liked the look and feel of being smooth that I have continued to this. I find that what works for me is to sit in a warm bath, pubes submerged, for at least fifteen minutes. Any razor and shave cream removes the softened hair easily.
Never did get my wife to follow suit.

Yep, I like being smooth and do enjoy it on a man as well. It's not a requirement but certainly makes for a more enjoyable experience from a feel perspective, and makes certain things easier during foreplay.
It was cute when my guy recently asked me my preference, and had zero issue with removing said hair. A little while after he had to ask what some of the removal options were, and after a run down of different shaving methods, an epilator, waxing, and spray/cream - he opted for a decent bikini shaver (the quality ones are great for men and are very nick-free) and has been enjoying the feeling of being smooth.
I've been thinking of trying out an epilator for the sake of longevity and less shaving. If I can get pierced down there and tattooed in some of the most, reportedly, painful areas on the human body... I'm hoping I can just keep playing a scene from Gremlins 2 in my head and laugh my way through it.

I've been using the tra laser for hair removal, it does not work on light colored hair. But after using it for awhile it does stop the hair growth, not completely but the hair that does come back is very thin and easy to maintain

I have been doing it regularly, from my neck down to toes and in the shower, while water runs over the area and it is so easy to maintain. In the Winter time, often I put some moisturizer cream on my freshly body and it is silky smooth. I enjoy being smooth and I have been doing for over 20 years and I still enjoy, my smooth body. For women, it is not a requirement but it sure makes a more enjoyable experience and makes oral pleasure so much better with no body hair. Surprising, my wife also enjoyed it also prior to her passing. The fact is I never received any complaints Males or Females!

I shave my whole body, pubes, chest, armpits legs.... just love the smooth feeling. I use a Gillette Mach3. Haven't had much issue. Once in a while, Neat for those hard to reach areas like ass and taint.

I liked it back when I was trimmed and shaved smooth. But I just found a cock sucker on DL who insists I leave my current growth.

I'm just the opposite. I don't remember how old I was, but it scared the hell out of me that I was starting to grow hair 'down there'. I never had the birds & bees talk, so I was really in the dark. Thought I was a freak when I first saw the hairs sprouting.
The fact that I have turned into a body-hair-hating cross-dresser late in life doesn't really have any connection to that early experience. I was an typical red-blooded male for most of my life and did all the guy things, both at work and at play. Yeah, I've always had the nylon fetish, but otherwise, I was just like all my buddies growing up.

You choose your battles. I like to please my partners by considering their likes and dislikes, but the word 'insists' makes it a deal-breaker for me.
Anyone I get together with is free to say what he or she likes and doesn't like about me, but they are only entitled to request or cite a preference, not make a demand. There are plenty of cock suckers out there, and many of them like smooth pubes.

I like to shave the hairs off my cock and balls, but leave the pubic hair present, but very short. When playing with myself, I love the feel of smooth balls and shaft. But still prefer the pubes be there, just not a jungle.

Agreed with Silky.
Stating a preference is one thing. Issuing a demand is quite another and would be a turnoff for me as well.

Agree with you both. Undergrowth issue aside, I cut him off over the way he drew the line so impolitely.

In the (mostly str8) swinging world, shaving is the norm. If you don't at least trim, then your chances of finding fun are significantly reduced. No judgment implied on what your own preference might be.

Nothing feels better than the smoothness that comes with waxing, but it's so darned expensive and difficult to find (at least in my area) a place that will give a 'manzilian'. Hope you have a great experience!
I've been experimenting with hard wax beans at home. It's not terribly painful, but it is time-consuming and there are several stages in the aftermath. Immediately afterward, I get a red dot and a tiny bump where each hair has been ripped from a follicle. They're not painful, but my understanding is that it can leave you somewhat vulnerable to infection, so it's best to avoid protect the area for a day or so. The dots and bumps diminish and disappear within a couple of days, and the smooth, soft skin is amazing! If you're into feeling that, it really makes you want to touch yourself. :oh:
But it doesn't last nearly as long as you'd think/hope. I'm lucky to get a week before I can tell it's growing back, and that's not long enough to make it a worth the time & effort, IMO. By that time, it feels comparable to having shaved the previous day. I also seem to be more prone to ingrown hairs after waxing, which haven't been a problem with shaving. Haven't had one that became infected or painful, but their presence detracts from your appearance. I try to avoid them with daily exfoliation, but it doesn't seem to help.
The real disadvantage to waxing over shaving is that you have to let it grow back long enough for the next wax job to be able to effectively grab the hairs and pull them out. Think 1/8" to 1/4", or more. For me, it's unacceptable to have stubble that length for more than a a very short time. Waiting for it to get long enough is a drag...

Don't think I've had one from shaving, either. When you shave, you're cutting the hair off at the level of the skin, or slightly below. if it retracts slightly after being stretched out a bit. So it's basically lined up right so that it emerges without problems. A hair that's starting to regrow from the root has to either follow the follicle upward, or chart a new course, if the follicle is obstructed. That's where the ingrowns come from...
I use a 5-blade razor from Harry's and shower gel. I actually have two Harry's handles - a blue one that I use on my body, and an orange one for the face.

I started shaving the base of my cock and balls years ago to control the aftereffects of hot weather. I have very fair skin and a hairy crotch was a very uncomfortable problem for me. In my case, I shave regularly with a triple blade disposable after soaping up with an organic, no-fragrance, no-color, no-chemical soap. It works well so long as I use HOT water, am gentle, deliberate and use fresh razors. I prefer the razors with Teflon strips. After use, I rinse myself and the razor thoroughly, again with HOT water. Twice a week, every 4 days. I get about 10 shaves out of the razor and aside from the physical enjoyment I get from the process, I really am thankful for the post-shave comfort. In a several ways, I'm surprised more people of all genders don't explore this bit of personal hygiene. Wish I'd discovered all the benefits back in high school!

I’ve gone for waxing three or four times, always the same expert Thai woman no funny business but she is good at what she does. First time I worried about the “40 year old virgin” syndrome (Steve Carrell movie) but honestly it was pretty pain free. I even got a thrill pit of her spreading my cheeks and waxing my crack. Mmmmm, nothing finer than a snakeskin smooth ass!
I googled “gay massage” close to where I am this weekend and it immediately brought up a site wih two male therapists who each offer up to 90 min massage for a reasonable amount, and a full Brazilian for about $50, partial Brazilian for $25. Unfortunately I just trimmed back the bush and used my Norelco on my balls, I didn’t consider how he will need a little growth for the waxing to really work!
I’ll ask him to size me up and if they are too short for waxing he’ll do an expert shave, and I’ll get the crack wax.
