I've created a write-up in my profile but it's not showing. When I go into edit, it's in there so what am I doing wrong?

Did you check the "enable my profile" box?? it should be under where you intro yourself near the top.. this happened to me too when i first made my profile :) forgot the checkbox :)

looks like you forgot to enable the ad section of your profile so you might check and see if thats the problem or not but it sounds like that is what happened.
