Here is the article from Military Times (http://militarytimes.com/news/2011/07/marine-dakota-meyer-medal-of-honor-071911w/).

Dakota Meyer was contacted by President Obama on Monday, according to sources with knowledge of the award. He will be the first living Marine recipient of the nation’s highest award for valor since now-retired Sgt. Maj. Allan Kellogg received the medal for actions 41 years ago in Vietnam.

Only two living recipients — both soldiers — have received the award for actions in Iraq and Afghanistan: Staff Sgt. Salvatore Giunta and Sgt. 1st Class Leroy Petry. Cpl. Jason Dunham is the only Marine to receive the medal for current conflicts, and he received it posthumously after throwing himself on a grenade in Husaybah, Iraq, in 2004 to save the lives of fellow Marines.

According to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society website (cmohs (http://www.cmohs.org/)) there are 85 living recipients of the award with Dakota Meyer becoming the 86th.

As a resident in the town from which a Medal of Honor reciepient is from, I send blessings and thanks from one American town to another. Our fallen hero, Jared Monti, was honored by President Obama, the Senate, the House, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and finally and ultimately by his own fellow citizens. He will always be remembered not as a hero, a member of the armed services but most importantly as a resident of the Town of Raynham.

This guy lives in Austin, TX now but he was originally from Greensburg, KY about 40 miles south of my town. They had an interview with him tonight and he wears two bracelets, one on each wrist. He hasn't taken them off since he got them made, each bracelet is engraved with two of the names of the four men he retrieved. He says he always has four reasons to never give up with him all the time. He still says he's not a hero, the heroes are the ones still out there, the heroes are also the ones that have done the same kind of thing but only without the witnesses needed. That is a man I can truly respect.
